Akimba: A Novel Murine Model for Diabetic Retinopathy

The Akimba model developed at the Lions Eye Institute is useful to elucidate the pathophysiology of diabetic retinopathy (DR). Biopharmaceutical companies can use Akimba to study how two important factors; hyperglycemia and vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF), interact in DR and to test their drug candidates in this murine model.

Novel cytoskeleton biology and drug screening tools

A leading research laboratory at the Children’s Cancer Institute developed a set of three gene-edited lung cancer cell lines expressing GFP-tagged βIII-tubulin and its strategic structural variations. These “off the shelf” tools have broad applications in basic tubulin and cytoskeletal biology research, in cell-based drug screening assays and in drug development for monitoring the efficacy of novel modulators. We are seeking a research reagents company to enter into a supply and distribution partnership for the commercialisation of these well characterised, superior research tools.
